In order to observe the precise structure of the material and the faster reaction of life activity, synchrotron radiation source based on Energy Recovery Linac (ERL) has been developed at KEK. ERL is expected to achieve 100 or 1000 times higher brilliance and/or 1/100 or 1/1000 shorter pulse width. To realize the ERL, the key accelerator components, c.w. superconducting cavities and high brightness electron gun are developed, and they will be installed and operated in the Compact ERL (R & D machine). Then, their performances will be reported.
