It will be an international facility for both academic and applied research, slated to provide user capability since the beginning of 2018. The main objective of the ELI-Beamlines Project is delivery of ultra-short high-energy pulses for the generation and applications of high-brightness X-ray sources and accelerated particles. The laser systems will be delivering pulses with lengths ranging between 10 and 150 fs and will provide high-energy Petawatt and 10-PW peak powers. Special emphasis is given to the increase of the repetition rate of PW class lasers to 10 Hz and beyond using newly developed DPSSL pump lasers. Linac-based X-ray free electronlaser (XFEL) isidentified as the 4th generation SR sourcefollowing the 3rd generationof a ring-based SR source.The present FELs, which are based onSelf-Amplified SpontaneousEmission (SASE), have been successful as a scientificinvestigation tool in short-wavelength region for the lastdecade. In order to complete XFEL as the 4th generation, presentSASE is going to be evolved into a seeded FEL as a fully coherentlight source in the X-ray region.&lt;br \/&gt;\nIn SPring-8, we are realizing two different seeding schemes in soft andhard X-ray region separately. In the soft X-ray region, we performed thehigher-order harmonic (HH) seeded FEL operation at the fundamentalwavelength, using a seeding source of HH pulses from Ti:sapphire laserat the EUV_FEL accelerator (SCSS). We have constructed the relativearrival timing monitor based on Electro-Optic sampling (EOS), whichmeasures the arrival time difference of the seeded laser pulses, withrespect to the electron bunches, simultaneously while the seeded FELoperation, in which the EOS-probe laser pulses are optically split fromHH-driving laser pulses. By using the EOS-locking system, the HH seededFEL was operated over half a day with a 20-30% hit rate.&lt;br \/&gt;\nIn SACLA, we are preparing self-seeding scheme for user operationin hard X-ray region. For educing the potential machine performance ofthe SACLA with self-seeding setup, a two-color lasing and simultaneousmulti-energy operation was proposed and tested. The two-color XFEL wasrealized at the SACLA for the first time in hard X-rays with widetunability up to 30% of the photon energy. The simultaneousmulti-energy acceleration of the electron bunches is a unique idea tochange the beam energy from bunch-to-bunch without degradingthe accelerator stability and willsignificantly improve the usability of multi-beamline operation.If a fully coherent SR source with multi-beamline operation becomesthe paradigm-shift level of the next generation\u2019s ladder, it will berequired for additional new functions on the basis of full coherencyto give high potentialities to open new research fields. One of thepromising candidate, NGLS\/LBNL was planned as a multi-beamlinesoft X-ray FEL array (including seeded FEL and two color operation)powered by a superconducting linear accelerator, operating with ahigh bunch repetition rate of 1 MHz. Now that \u03b813 has been measured, the focus of the long-baseline neutrino-oscillation programme is to determine the mass hierarchy and to search for leptonic CP-invariance violation. In parallel, some anomalies in short baseline oscillations can be interpreted as hints for sterile neutrinos. I will explain how neutrinos produced in the decay of stored muon beams have the potential to serve the conventional long-baselineprogram, provide definitive measurements of short-baseline oscillations and be developed incrementally to deliver the Neutrino Factory, the facility of choice for the study of neutrino oscillations. Poor vacuum results in a strong interaction of the accelerated particles with the molecules of the residual gas, leading to beam losses and instabilities. If the accelerated particles are positively charged, high values of SEY may induce Electron Multipacting (EM), resulting in the buildup of a cloud of electrons causing beam instabilities and limiting the performance of the accelerator.&lt;br \/&gt;\n  To improve the pumping efficiency and avoid EM in the vacuum chambers of the long straight sections of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), CERN developed a Non Evaporable Getter (NEG) in the form of a thin film that can be deposited in the inner walls of the beam pipes. Once activated, the NEG thin film can provide pumping speeds of about 0.4 l\/s\/cm2 for H2. Furthermore, the oxide free surface of the activated NEG has a maximal SEY of 1.1, below the threshold for EM in these beam pipes (1.3). The activation temperature, between 180\u2103 to 280\u2103, is compatible with most of the technical materials used for the construction of beam pipes and the activation process can be included in the bakeout cycle. About 7 km of coated beam pipes are in operation in the LHC and many other particle accelerators use NEG coated vacuum chambers (ESRF, DESY, DIAMOND, NSLS, SOLEIL, ELETTRA, etc).&lt;br \/&gt;\n  As the beam pipes of some particle accelerators cannot be baked, CERN recently developed a carbon coating with low maximal SEY (1.0), that do not require any heating or activation. Possible future higher-energy hadron colliders include HE-LHC and VHE-LHC. The 80-100 km tunnel built for the latter could also host a circular e+e- Higgs factory, TLEP, offering high resolution for many of the Higgs coupling parameters, with sensitivity to new physics at multi-TeV energies.
