By the end of 2014, the SSRF has served more than 10000 users, carried out more than 5700 experiments, and brought major experimental results presented in more than 1800 publications.&lt;br \/&gt;\n\u3000A proposal for SSRF Phase-II Beamline Project got the approval at the beginning of 2015. The project will pursuit sophisticated abilities in high resolutions on energy, momentum, time, space and single atom detection, as well as new opportunities through combination of different photon energy ranges. It consists of sixteen advanced beamlines, user experimental supports, beamline technique supports and machine upgrade, aiming to improve the experimental research capabilities particularly for energy, environment, material, life and earth science etc. The proposed construction period for the SSRF Phase-II Beamline Project is six years.&lt;br \/&gt;\n\u3000The free-electron laser technology is the next focus in SSRF. The DUV-FEL, a test facility for new FEL principle, has been operated for 5 years and got a series of important results. A soft X-ray FEL facility, the SXFEL, started construction at the end of 2014. It consists of an 840MeV Linac, a FEL undulator system and a photon diagnostic beamline. Currently, it serves as a test facility of future hard X-ray FEL user facility, while it can be quickly upgraded to a FEL user facility at \u201cwater-window\u201d spectral region for scientific investigations. Four different types of IVUs are employed at the NSLS-II as of now.&lt;br \/&gt;\nTwo 3.0m long U20s (the number indicates the period length in mm), Three 1.5m long U21s for low beta straights and a 3.0m long U22 and two 2.8m long U23 are for high beta straights.&lt;br \/&gt;\nAll devices have a side window derived from the experience from the Chess facility at Cornel University&lt;br \/&gt;\nCommissioning devices went very smoothly.&lt;br \/&gt;\nHowever, we observed a slight misalignment of an IVU could cause significant decrease in injection efficiency at closed gap or create a \u201chot spot\u201d in downstream chamber.&lt;br \/&gt;\nWe have tried to make estimates of the 1st integral contribution from each undulator by measuring the closed orbit distortion (COD) without any feedback when the undulator\u2019s gap is closed.&lt;br \/&gt;\nThe beam-based integral estimates were obtained from the virtual kicks at the upstream and downstream of the undulator that best fit the measured orbit distortion in a model lattice with Tracy&amp;#091; 2 &amp;#093;.&lt;br \/&gt;\nIn some cases, there are fairly large discrepancies between magnetic measurement data and observed integrals by the beam.&lt;br \/&gt;\nThe latest experiences on IDs and other accelerator components at the NSLS-II are discussed.&lt;br \/&gt;\n1) S. The experiments have yielded data on electron channeling as well as the volume reflection process in a little-explored energy range that challenge some of the energy-scaling relations used up to now. E212, using a 20 GeV positron beam at FACET, provided rather stunning evidence for oscillations in the dechanneling tail confirming predictions for very high-energy protons but seen here for the first time in a high-energy beam. The collaboration is now expanding its scope towards gamma-ray production with the possibility of a crystalline undulator structure suitable for narrow-band generation of gamma-rays with electron beams. It is a simple expansion of the well-known Chao&amp;#39;s two particle model for a strong head-tail instability and is still analytically solvable. The 3-dimensional contour plot of the growth rate as a function of the wake field strength and the space-charge tune shift reveals stopband structures. &lt;br \/&gt;\nMany simulation results generally indicate that beam instability can be damped by a weak space-charge force, but the beam becomes unstable again when the space charge force is further increased. But for these magnets the combined requirements of large hadron apertures (4 mrad experimental acceptance cone for forward particle detection) and large coil fields (around 5 T  for focusing\/bending rigid hadron beam)  and small crossing angle (10 mrad total crossing angle limit from hadron beam crab cavities) means that existing external field compensation techniques with active shielding or cancellation are impractical. Instead we should pass the electron beam through the main coil structure via a reduced field strength \u201csweet spot\u201d region.
