Beam quality and efficiency of the Linac directly affect beam losses in downstream machines and ultimately beam quality to users. Therefore, delivering stable beam with maximal throughput from the Linac is crucial for the complex. To operate a high current beam, accelerators must minimize uncontrolled particle loss; this can be accomplished by minimizing beam longitudinal emittance via RF parameter optimization. In practice, RF tuning is required daily since the resonance frequencies of the accelerating cavities are affected by ambient temperature and humidity variations and thus drift with time. Moreover, the energy and phase space distribution of particles emerging from the ion source are subject to fluctuations. Time drift is not unique to Fermilab; it affects all accelerator complexes around the world. As such, time-drift aware RF tuning has been an area of active research with increasingly sophisticated methods. Over the last few years applications of machine learning (ML) to accelerator optimization have grown exponentially, however this work is mainly still at the proof-of-concept stage. The system isbased on a cellular configuration in which each cell provides a fractionof the total RF voltage. The installation of the 3 systems has beenperformed during the Long Shutdown 2 and the commissioning started laterin 2020. As part of the transition towards solid-state, radiation-hardamplifier technology, prototypes of 1 kW and 400 W modular poweramplifiers based on GaN technology have been developed and are currentlyundergoing testing. The FETs have been qualified for radiation in J-PARCand they will undergo additional irradiation time in the PS tunnel atCERN to additionally qualify the amplifier in its entirety. This time we are seeing commercialization and development of a space economy. There are many projects being discussed, including a moon base, more space telescopes, more robotic probes that will explore for possible signs of life on the moons of Jupiter and Saturn, and even companies that want to mine asteroids. The problem we face is these probes and other systems are packing more complex electronics on them and once beyond the Earth\u2019s protective environment they are susceptible to disruption and even failure from radiation in space. In this talk I will describe the sources of this radiation, how we can use accelerators to simulate space weather for testing electronics before deploying, efforts to expand the workforce for designing and testing electronics for space, and current and future testing facilities. I will highlight the NASA Space Radiation Laboratory, which has been simulating space weather for radiobiology experiments for many years and recently for electronics. A 36MeV superconducting module was to accelerate up to 4 times to raise electron energies from 6MeV to 150MeV.  The electron return loop used permanent magnets and a novel Fixed Field Accelerator (FFA) lattice that allowed all four energies from 42MeV to 150MeV to be returned in the same beam pipe.  Tests of energy recovery achieved very high efficiency and 70uA circulating current in single-turn mode and partial beam recovery in 4-turn mode.  This seminar also describes some of the correction procedures for the return loop orbit and adjusting path lengths in the machine. The facility includes Super-conductive Radio-frequency cavities (SRF) to accelerator a proton beam to produce neutron by spallation process on a helium-cooled tungsten wheel, possibility to host 42 neutron instruments. The ESS Vacuum Group has the overall responsibility for all technical vacuum systems used on the Accelerator, Target and Neutron Scattering Instruments (NSS). The team has the responsibility to provide internally or to the in-kind partners, guidance, on-going support and oversight during design, fabrication, installation, commissioning and operation. We have developed a novel iterative learning control (ILC) scheme to compensate for beam loading. By utilizing prior knowledge of the beam, our algorithm could avoid complex matrix operations and enable the construction of an FPGA-based ILC algorithm. Additionally, we have developed a real-time digital filter with robustness to field emission-induced burst noise, resolving RF instability issues in an innovative way and improving machine reliability and performance.&lt;br \/&gt;\n  Improving the accuracy of RF field measurements is a crucial means to enhance the precision of LLRF system control. Quantum efficiency (QE) and operational lifetimes are two of the key figures of merit of photocathodes performance. Alkali-based semiconducting photocathodes display high QE in the visible light spectrum, while their lifetimes are shorter than their metallic counterparts due to the sensitivity to residual gases. Coating alkali-based photocathodes with two dimensional (2D) materials is an effective approach to improve the lifetimes of photocathodes. During my presentation, I will discuss our investigation of the interfaces between 2D materials with photocathodes using ab-initio electronic structure calculations. We have discovered that the induced dipole moments at the interfaces play a key role in influencing the work function of coated photocathodes and subsequently their QE. Building on this understanding, we have conducted a computational screening in 2D material database to identify those that could enhance the performance of photocathodes.
